Former N.W.A. manager Jerry Heller stepped up this week to speak out on his portrayal in last summer’s Straight Outta Compton biopic.

In Heller’s opinion, film producers Dr. Dre and Ice Cube were behind the way Straight Outta Compton presented him.

“They’re saying things about me in that film that are not only not true but they’re very demeaning and degrading and now it means everybody over the world will think that about me. That’s just not true. There’s just so much more attention being brought to the movie now and I would have felt a lot better if I were portrayed honestly and Eazy was portrayed in a light he should have been. I think it was a combination of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the widow [of Eazy-E]. I’m very proud of the work that he did and I’m proud of the success Ice Cube has had.” (TMZ Live)

Back in September, rap star Lil Wayne reacted to seeing Straight Outta Compton.

“It was awesome,” Wayne said during an interview with Cari Champion’s “Be Honest” ESPN Radio podcast. “Of course they left a lot out but the movie was great. They had some characters in there that didn’t get it right, but that’s OK.” (“Be Honest”)

Last year, rap veteran Snoop Dogg revealed if he had plans to put together a biopic.

“No, I’m still creating the Snoop story. It’s still happening as we speak,” Snoop said when asked about a biopic on his life. “I don’t feel like I’m ready for that. I feel like I got more to do. When I’m able to settle down and look at it and say, ‘Okay, I want to document my life and my career and what not, then I will do it but right now I’m loving the fact N.W.A. did their thing, just letting their movie breathe and letting people get their story and success, that’s what it’s all about.” (Bossip)

    • He has every right to care. When the facts are not told and things are fabricated to make the other side look better than they were. That is called defamation of character and you can be sued for that. Especially when it comes to movies. Then again the movie left out so much important stuff anyway. It was a decent movie but you pretty much have to take that story with a grain of salt considering it was told 90 percent by Dre and Cube. It was biased from the get go.

  1. My God Cari Champion is so fucking lame and annoying. Thank God she is gone from First Take. Molly knows her place is so much sexier and isn’t always fucking talking over everyone. Good job ESPN for getting her ass off the air every morning.
