Jermaine Dupri, the executive producer for the upcoming Hulu documentary, Freaknik: The Wildest Part Never Told, addresses the outrage expressed on social media about the documentary’s content. Dupri clarifies the documentary’s content, stating that it focuses more on Atlanta, where Freaknik originated, not just the wild party atmosphere. He emphasizes that the documentary will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Freaknik, the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, and the 30th anniversary of So So Def Records, which he founded.

Dupri acknowledges that the documentary will feature some wild party behavior, which Freaknik was known for in the 1990s.

In addition to his work on the documentary, Dupri will be honored at the upcoming Essence Fest in New Orleans for the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and the 30th anniversary of So So Def Records. Later in 2023, he is also set to have a Verzuz battle with Diddy, which has been generating buzz among hip-hop fans.

Despite his continued success, Jermaine Dupri recently had to respond to criticism from music fans who claimed he was irrelevant. In a recent I AM ATHLETE podcast episode, Dupri addressed the comments and reaffirmed his impact on the music industry.
