Music mogul Jay Z is going back to the drawing board as reports claim his Tidal streaming service let go of its CEO this week.

Details of the company’s executive shakeup bubbled online Tuesday (June 23).

Privately owned by Jay-Z and an impressive flock of other big name artists, Tidal has been off to a rocky start since its launch in March and now faces the challenge of finding a CEO—yet again. Interim CEO Peter Tonstad was let go from his position at Tidal a company official confirmed on Tuesday after just a few months at the company’s helm. (Forbes)

According to recent tech reports, the overnight streaming service now comes packed with a slew of new assets.

Users can download a new beta desktop player for Windows and Mac operating systems that makes it easier to find songs and videos. Also new: tour dates and links to buy tickets. And as part of a new partnership with Ticketmaster, Tidal members will get access to exclusive ticket giveaways, presales and discounts. (USA Today)

Young Money boss Lil Wayne joined forces with Tidal for the premiere of his new “Glory” song earlier this month.

  1. there is a higher failure rate than success…this was a horrible business move short term. IF an Artist owns all of their music, publishing and distribution….then that Artists would kinda benefit….Apple cuts a deal with Sony, EM and Warner for $7.99….Beats rebrands itself after the sell partners with Google, Spotify and Edio for $9.99…The first three are major distributors and owns a lot of content. They then lease the content to the other three….

Bad deal for Jay-Z…. The only way he wins is to partner with Artists that remain Unsigned, Independent Artists (which receives in many cases 90 points or more of their music or an established Artists that plans to split from a deal but they would need to stay hot). in the case of the Wayne partnering.

He needs to go back to the drawing board, take the hit upfront on the costs and ultimately create a market against the easiest market to take…Free content providers…such as WSHH… Get this to Jigga I can help him…. Bad business move
