Music mogul JAY-Z‘s long-awaited “Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story” trailer has finally surfaced. The 27-second teaser clip gives fans a look into what the rap executive has quietly pieced together since last year.

This week, the visual premiered online and features various voices referencing the life of slain teenager Trayvon Martin.

Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story is inspired by the biographical story of young Martin’s life and legacy, written and retold through the eyes of his parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin. “It first brings Trayvon back to life as the full, three-dimensional, complex kid he was, through his parents’ eyes,” said editor Christopher Jackson with Random House’s One World, “and then to the dark and confusing days following his death, which slowly transform into the blossoming of a powerful, historic movement for change and healing that we’re still watching unfold five years later. Everyone who’s been reading the manuscript is in tears by the second chapter.” (The Grio)

This month, JAY-Z made a surprise appearance at a Trayvon Martin event in Miami and spoke on his legacy.

Jay-Z, who was recently threatened by Trayvon Martin’s shooter, praised the teenager’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin. He said: “We want to make sure that we stand and support and never forget that Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to the people out here. So you guys will never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through. And his name will sit alongside the greats whom lost their lives to push our culture forward — the Martin Luther Kings, the Gandhis. That’s the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope to push us in a better direction, so thank you guys for your support. Thank you for being here.” (NME)

A few years ago, JAY and his superstar wife Beyoncé attended a Trayvon rally in New York.

In 2013, Jay-Z and Beyonce attended a New York rally that demanded justice following Martin’s death. Last March, Jay-Z announced plans to produce both a six-part docuseries and a feature film about Martin. Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story will premiere in July on the Paramount Network. Recently, Martin’s mom Sybrina Fulton acknowledged Tray’s 23rd birthday.
