Music mogul Jay Z reportedly dug into his pockets and put up nearly $40 million to purchase late music icon Prince’s unreleased stash.

According to reports, Young Hov recently met up with Prince’s sister Tyka to make the hefty offer.

We were unable to confirm the figure from Jay’s camp. But there was a rub. Tyka may be Prince’s only full sibling, but she has to get sign-off from all the brothers and sisters, in addition to the trust that is managing the estate. Word is that JZ is still in the running to get the overall deal for streaming rights … but it will be very expensive and there are some major players in the game. (TMZ)

Back in June, Jay’s TIDAL music streaming service treated subscribers to Prince songs.

And to help keep spirits up, Tidal did Prince fans proud by releasing 15 rare albums by the music icon, making them available to subscribers of the streaming service. The massive collection of b-sides, unreleased tracks and live albums that became available Tuesday on Tidal includes “New Power Soul,” “The Rainbow Children” and “The Black Album,” among others. Last spring, details on what ultimately ended Prince’s life surfaced.

The singer Prince died of an opioid overdose, a US law enforcement official has told the Associated Press. The official, who is close to the investigation, said this was established by tests after the singer’s death in April at his Minneapolis home. Detectives have already questioned a doctor who saw 57-year-old Prince twice in the weeks before he died. (BBC)

In April, R&B icon Beyoncé remembered Prince on her Instagram page.
