Music mogul Jay Z‘s re-released Magna Carta Holy Grail 2013 vinyl album reportedly comes packed with a hidden song.
According to reports, Third Man Records has put together the secret gem to interested buyers.
Most exciting about this double LP is certainly the concealed postcard flexi disc hidden within the back cover and only accessible to those willing to take a knife to the iconic packaging. Once freed of its casing, this flexi disc plays a super secret hidden track. That’s right: a record containing a bonus track is contained within the the record’s back cover. The record is currently available for order from Third Man Records, although there’s no word yet on the nature of the mystery bonus track. (Diffuser FM)
Third Man Records posted up the project’s vinyl and artwork a few days ago on Instagram.
Earlier this year, Jay reportedly agreed to terms with international musician Bruno Spoerri over Magna Carta Holy Grail‘s “Versus” tune in a copyright case.
The rapper had denied copying instrumental ‘Lilith — on the way’ in his 2013 song ‘Versus’. But he has now agreed to pay 50 per cent of the royalties to the Swiss pianist and saxophonist, following an 18-month legal wrangle. In this case, the lifted melody came from a song composed by Spoerri in 1978, with the musician rejecting an initial offer as ‘too low’. (Daily Mail)
Last year, Bruno spoke on Jay using his tune’s instrumental for the platinum-selling album.
‘In a way I’m flattered that a relatively young rapper takes a sample from an old man, a sample that is about 35 years old.” (Swiss Info)
