The names of the nine people shot dead at an African-American church in South Carolina have been read out in its first service since Wednesday’s attack. The visiting reverend, Norvel Goff, said the “devil entered” but failed to “take control of your church”. He stood in for Reverend Clementa Pinckney, one of the victims of the attack on the bible-studying group. (BBC)
In an interview this week, rap veteran Nas suggested the shooter’s mental well-being likely attributed to the gruesome attack.
“You know, mental illness is something that I wish we could detect earlier on from birth, like, to detect that and maybe, vaccinate it at birth, so that we don’t have to worry about who is who – that really need help. … How do heal them today? … Racism is rotting America. It’s been rotting America since America’s inception. So this is a very serious time that we’re moving into in 2015.” (VIBE)
The Charleston police department announced suspect Dylann Roof‘s charges on Twitter Friday (June 19).
is this the same jayz that said “life starts when the church ends”???!
The reason he said life starts when the church ends is simple, whatever you were told by your pastor will be tested after you walk out the church. It was a metaphor but you guys just can’t deal with complex rhymes.
