Music mogul Jay Z and his mom Gloria Carter have teamed up with digital auction powerhouse eBay for a good cause. The duo and eBay for Charity launched a new campaign this week to help students pursuing college dreams.

According to reports, Young Hov and Ms. Carter’s Shawn Carter Foundation are relying on eBay for Charity to put up various celebrity items for grabs.

The eBay for Charity auctions campaign launches today (May 15) and runs through May 24, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Shawn Carter Foundation’s educational programs and scholarship fund. During the 10-day campaign, fans will have the chance to donate and bid on unique experiences and celebrity memorabilia from Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, among others. (Billboard)

Jigga Man’s mom has since addressed the new partnership and discussed its importance.

“Our goal is to touch as many people as we possibly can,” Carter tells Billboard of teaming with eBay for Charity. “There are so many young people — a lot of whom are first-generation students — that have the desire to attend college but don’t have the funds. My mother and father taught us to pay it forward and give to the community. That was my inspiration for the foundation. It makes me feel so blessed to be put in a situation where I can help the next generation.” (Billboard)

A few days ago, Jay Z signed a massive 10-year contract with entertainment company Live Nation.

Shawn “Jay Z” Carter and Live Nation announced an exclusive 10-year touring partnership. The agreement continues the MC’s longstanding partnership with the world’s biggest live-entertainment company. The deal includes worldwide touring and will see Live Nation producing and promoting Jay Z concert events. A source tells Variety the deal is worth $200 million. (Variety)

Jay issued a statement on the monster deal and revealed what supporters could expect.

“Live Nation and I entered unchartered territory in 2008,” Jay Z said in a statement. “Over nine years, we have traveled the world producing historic music experiences. [Live Nation president and chief executive officer] Michael Rapino is an industry visionary, and this renewed partnership is a testament to our longstanding relationship and the talented individuals at Live Nation. For the next 10 years, we will continue redefining the live event landscape.” (Variety)
