Jay Z Laces Up For ‘Throne Boxing,’ Roc Nation Sports Takes Power Punch

Music mogul Jay Z's growing Roc Nation Sports company has reached new grounds by teaming up with Fox Sports for its first boxing bout.

According to reports, Roc Nation and Fox Sports 1 have a few fights slated to kick-off next month.

Roc Nation Sports, which announced its first Boxing division in August, will present its debut boxing event, “throne boxing,” on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. The event, designed to be a hybrid of boxing and live music, will be telecast live from Madison Square Garden in the first of a three-event deal with Fox Sports 1, with dates and venues for two future bouts to be confirmed at a later date. A Roc Nation Sports executive provided details on the power move Tuesday (December 9).

“All of us at Roc Nation Sports are thrilled to announce our first boxing event along with our first series and television deal,” said David Itskowitch, the chief operating officer of Roc Nation Sports’ boxing division. “An evening of exciting fights, great music and fantastic entertainment will be a fitting way to kick off Throne Boxing, a series that will stand alone on the boxing landscape.” (Statement)

Roc Nation will also reportedly have performances go down at the January 9 Madison Square Garden fight.

In addition to the fights on Jan. 9, of which $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Muhammad Ali Center, Roc Nation Sports said there will also be live performances by Roc Nation artists still to be announced. (ESPN)

Tickets for the first fight night are now available.

Tickets for the Jan. 9 fight will be priced at $205, $105, $55 and $30 (plus any Ticketmaster charges), and go on sale Tuesday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be available for purchase at the Madison Square Garden box office, online at www.thegarden.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets. One dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to the Muhammad Ali Center. (Billboard)

  1. wow i know fifty hurt by this…ol boy was talking about this idea a few months ago…hov does not fight hand to hand….he letsyou used hands while he throws buildings…HOV on super saiyan level 500 million….very proud to be a witness to his journey
