Details of Young Hov’s latest business move surfaced online Wednesday (May 21).

Spokeswoman Victoria Hong of Jay Z partner Delaware North Companies says the sports bar portion of the club opened Wednesday for ticketed passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Airport concessions director Paul Brown says there are plans to create a VIP lounge area of the club, separate from the sports bar on another floor. Brown says the lounge is expected to open in the late fall. (Miami Herald)

Back in 2012, the popular sports bar’s New Jersey location shut down.

Atlantic City’s 40/40 Club, co-owned by hip-hop star Jay Z, has closed. The Press of Atlantic City reported the $4 million club actually shut down in October when its lease expired. Club spokesman Ron Berkowitz told the newspaper the club has not operated since Superstorm Sandy flooded it and tore a hole in the roof, right around when its lease ended. Since it opened in October 2005, the club hosted stars including Beyonce, rapper Lil’ Wayne, and rapper and current “American Idol” judge Nicki Minaj, in addition to numerous sports celebrities. A statement on its closure also surfaced online following the news.

The $4 million, two-level facility co-owned by hip-hop superstar Jay-Z closed in October, said Cristin Bentz, assistant general manager for Tanger Outlets The Walk. “Our leasing team is actively and diligently working to bring a great new tenant into the space. Stay tuned,” Bentz said. (Press of Atlantic)

Leasing and property damage ultimately forced the club to bid farewell to patrons for good.

Ron Berkowitz of Berk Communications in New York, the 40/40’s spokesman, said the club’s lease ended in October, the same month that Hurricane Sandy hit, causing tremendous water damage inside the club. The club has not been operational since then. “There was a big hole in the roof as well,” Berkowitz said Wednesday. “With the end of the lease and with Sandy, we decided we had a great run, and it was time to move on.” (Press of Atlantic)
