Hip-hop mogul Jay Z stood up for his popular Tidal streaming music service during a special appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last night (October 20).

During his Q&A with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, Hov defended Tidal being a better option than other streaming services.

“They want people to believe that you don’t care about sound and quality,” Jay said referring to his competition. “They want you to believe that. ‘We don’t care if it’s hi-fi or not.’ But people spend hours and months in studios mixing their sound and really crafting the sound. They want people to hear it and [other streaming sites] pretend as if you don’t care about it. Forget the sound because that’s just a part of it, if you think of streaming, it’s the next thing. It was vinyl, then there was tape, then there was downloads and now it’s streaming – that’s just the natural progress of what’s going to happen. You think of it as a big jukebox.” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”)

  1. Niggas really be tripping, Im watching all these young bucks fawning over Drake, this is a Superstar! After 20 years in, he’s still reaching heights hip hop has never seen, and creating lanes for these new hip hop hot artists. This kind of special only comes around once. Appreciate it!
