Not holding back his emotions, Young Hov admitted the not guilty verdict hit him extremely hard.

“I was really angry, I didn’t sleep for two days. I was really angry about it. We all knew it was still a bit of racism in America but for it to be so blatant, if you just ask yourself the question, ‘Didn’t Travyon have a right to stand his ground?’ He was being chased, he fought back. He may have won. That doesn’t mean he’s a criminal. He won. If you chase me and you try to attack me and I defend myself, how can I be in the wrong? How is that right? This guy went to get some Skittles and go back to watch the All-Star game. He had plans. ‘I gonna get this Arizona, these Skittles, and go watch this game.’ … He had no intentions of robbing anyone’s home — it’s a thing where it’s like a reminder of, ‘We still got a long way to go.’ It’s beautiful because this generation right now, they don’t see color in that way. We’re a bit removed from those racist feelings.” (“The Truth With Elliott Wilson”)

Recently, Reverend Al Sharpton revealed Young Hov told him he and Beyoncé felt their roles as responsible parents made it vital for them to attend last weekend’s “Justice For Trayvon” New York rally.

The superstar couple attended a rally in Manhattan alongside a reported 2,000 protesters, including MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton. “Jay-Z and Beyonce said they didn’t want to speak and they didn’t come for a photo op,” Sharpton said, according to reports. “Jay-Z told me, ‘I’m a father. Beyoncé is a mother.’ We all feel the pain and apprehension – the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn’t protect anybody … We do not come from hate, we come from love of children.” (People)

Jay and Bey joined the likes of Martin’s mother, Sharpton and hundreds of protestors last Saturday (July 20).

Platinum-selling power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé joined the crowd demanding “Justice for Trayvon Martin” at a Saturday rally where the pair greeted the slain teen’s mother. The celebrity backing on a blistering Manhattan day came after Sybrina Fulton proclaimed her son’s innocence and urged a federal civil rights prosecution of George Zimmerman. Fulton, choked up by the racially diverse crowd’s cheers and support, had trouble speaking before declaring that 17-year-old Trayvon did not deserve to die. “He was a child,” she said outside 1 Police Plaza. “Don’t take my word for it. He had a drink and candy.” (New York Daily News)

A day prior, Jay performed a Trayvon Martin tribute during his New York concert.

JAY Z and Justin Timberlake rocked the first of their sold-out shows, taking over Yankee Stadium in New York City Friday night and paying tribute to Trayvon Martin while they were at it. The “Suit & Tie” duo saved the last song of their concert for the tribute, with JAY Z and Timberlake performing a rendition of “Forever Young” in honor of the late teen. “This is for Trayvon, so light up your cell phones New York!,” JAY Z yelled, with Timberlake adding, “One more time for Trayvon New York!” (The Grio)
