[With his “Make My Love Go” single blazing and a new deal with Sony Music, R&B veteran Jay Sean talks to SOHH about moving past his stint with Cash Money Records and explains why his latest power move makes sense.]
Obviously I had a great run with Cash Money but I learned a lot of things too. I learned what worked and what else I needed. Those are the kinds of things that we kept in mind when it came to the new deal.
For me, it’s about my team and my passion. It’s about everybody pulling their weight and being excited, motivated and that’s what I got here at Sony.
I also have that with my management team and the people I have around me. Everybody has got to be on the same page. The funny thing is, and it might just be me, my career doesn’t exist without my team.
I need everybody to be equally invested and that was something that was very important to me.
