According to reports, Jay Elect and Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon will take center stage at the yearly event this summer.

Last night, Brooklyn Bodega held the kickoff announcement party for the 10th anniversary of their Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, where they announced that Raekwon and Jay Electronica would be the two major headliners at this year’s fest. Rae and Jay will also be joined by Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly and Pro Era, which Brooklyn Bodega Executive Director Wes Jackson compared to the early Wu-Tang Clan. This year’s festival will take place from July 9-14, with the major performances set for Saturday the 12th. (XXL Mag)

Prior to his new “We Made It” remix, Jay unleashed a new tune last month.

Aside from his verse on Big Sean‘s “Control,” Jay Electronica has kept a low profile since signing to Jay Z‘s Roc Nation in 2010. But on Friday night, the New Orleans rapper surprised his fans by dropping “Better in Tune with the Infinite” featuring LaTonya Givens. The nearly five-minute track starts off with Professor Marvel‘s speech from The Wizard of Oz before Jay waxes poetic over a sample of Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto‘s “Bibo No Aozora,” which Trey Songz also used on his hit “Can’t Be Friends.” (Rap-Up)

Last September, reports claimed Jay Elect shut down a reporter when inquired about his long-awaited album’s release date.

The interviewer did get a chance to ask Jay about a possible release date for the long-anticipated Act II, the real question every Jay Electronica fan wants to ask the New Orleans native. In response, Jay merely smirked before saying, “She’s trying to put me on the spot. The album comes out on the day that it comes out.” And with that, the interview was over. So to recap, Jay Electronica may or may not be done with Act II, it may or may not be “his time,” and we will likely be left in the lurch for at least another year. Typical. (Complex)

One of the album’s contributing producers previously said Jay Elect’s LP was going through its final stages.

Jeymes Samuel, also know by his stage name The Bullitts, has revealed that Jay Electronica’s long delayed album is nearing completion. Samuel is one of the producers on the Jay-Z-signed rapper’s debut release. Speaking to NME, the English artist said: “Honestly, it’s in the last stages of recording. It’s just tinkering. Just putting the final… you know when a builder builds a house? And when he’s finished the walls he gives them one little brush over like a once over? And then the album will be done.” (NME)
