Despite not being his manager, Jay Elect said he shares close ties with the Bad Boy Records CEO.

“Puff is my man,” Jay said in an interview. Puff is going to be involved. I’ve been knowing him a while before people know who I was. I sought him out in 2004. At the moment I’m not contractually tied to anything right now. He’s not a manager. My manager is Angela Yee. Let me ask you something. On a scale of 1 to 10, how big is the news of Diddy allegedly being my manager?” (VIBE)

Writing via his popular Twitter page, Diddy detailed the authenticity behind Jay’s music last December.

“Attention all djs attention all djs. I’m about to post 1 of the hottest most authentic hip hop records of 2010!!! Just for real hip hop djs,” he wrote Wednesday (December 30). “This is a record i will be promotin in 2010. My brother @jayelectronica – Exhibit C It deserves to be play on the radio! http://fblz.in/K3h4 @jayelectronica will be the breakout MC one of 2010!!!! Real hip hop!!! Jay recently spoke with SOHH about getting Diddy’s input for his new “Ghost of Christopher Wallace” track.

“I got the beat from somebody on Twitter,” he told SOHH. “I was accepting beats over ichat and that was one of the tracks I got from a producer. Quincy Tones was his name and I called up Puff just to get some feedback on it. He was like ‘Yo, it’s crazy, let’s go.” So we went to the studio and did it. I was really just trying to invoke the energy of Big on it so that’s why we call it the ‘Ghost of Christopher Wallace.’ I don’t know [if it’ll end up on a project]. It was just a song. I was inspired to do it when I heard the music and we just put it out. I aint really to into… I like giving. I like giving stuff away.” (SOHH)

Along with Diddy, West Coast rapper Game has praised Jay’s music.

“He just randomly popped up in L.A. and we went into the studio,” Game said about meeting Jay. “Originally, I had studio time, but then I had to record for Dr. Dre, so Puffy and Swizz Beatz crashed my session. When I got back, Swizz did a hook, then Jay did a verse and killed it. Jay tried to be humble and tell me, “You bodied me,” but I wasn’t having it. The things that come out of his mouth are crazy. I haven’t heard anyone spit like him since Nas.” (The BVX)
