R&B veteran Janet Jackson isn’t taking time off the road to deal with her father’s death. The crooner has issued a statement to fans thanking them for their support and promised to come through at the Essence Festival.
Janet went to Instagram last night (July 4) to update fans on her state of mind and touring plans.
“Hey you guys, it’s been a pretty rough week but we’re excited. I’m excited. We cannot wait to see you and it’s been way too long. I miss you guys too much. I’m about to jump on this plane and start this tour. Like I said, I can’t wait to see you.”
Earlier this week, Janet returned to IG to share a throwback pic of her late dad Joe Jackson.

Joe died six days ago in California at the age of 89.
Family sources tell TMZ, Joe passed away at 3:30 AM Wednesday in L.A. We broke the story … Joe was hospitalized in June with terminal cancer. His family had been flocking to his bedside since. His wife, Katherine, had been at his bedside as were some of Joe’s children and grandchildren. Joe had been battling health problems for some time now. He was hospitalized back in 2016 after coming down with a high fever. But, he bounced back not long after and was seen partying in Vegas. His health was also fragile after a stroke and 3 heart attacks back in 2015. Doctors implanted a pacemaker. (TMZ)
