R&B singer Janelle Monae is speaking facts. The crooner has stepped forward to share her take on rap star Kanye West amid his recent publicized support for conservative figures.

In a new interview with radio host Angie Martinez, Monae explained her personal issues with standing behind Ye endorsing people like President Donald Trump.

“He obviously has inspired me as an artist and I don’t know where he is mentally. I’m not close to him. I will say the leader of our free world is a very divisive person. We know what number 45 is and what he feels about black people, what he feels about immigrants, what he feels about the LGBTQ community and those on his team. What he feels about oppressed people is very clear. I’m all for free thinking but when the free thinking, when you endorse people who freely think and then their thinking leads to laws that continue to oppress us, I’m not gonna endorse that.”

Early Tuesday, Kanye called into radio station Hot 97 to profess his love for radio host Ebro Darden a day after getting slammed by him.

“I just called to say I love you, bro. I love you. I love you bro. Nah man, I’m just calling to say I love you. Nah, I just called, to say, I love you. [laughs] Hit me up in person and then we’ll talk afterwards. We should meet up in person and then we can meet up afterwards. I just wanted to call and tell you I love you. All right. Peace.” (Hot 97)

Yesterday, Kanye relied on a series of video clips to respond to people wondering why he might have co-signed conservative news personality Candace Owens.

Owens went more direct with her response by singling out Hot 97.

Early Monday, Ebro Darden revealed a personal convo he had with Yeezy over the weekend following his Owens co-sign.

“Then he went on to talk about demonization. He feels like he’s been demonized and how as a society we demonize individuals who are trying to speak out and challenge original thoughts. We demonize them for trying to think different when really they’re just trying to continue to make progress. So I think we’re going to hear a lot more about that specific thing,” Ebro said reflecting on his Kanye convo. “And multiple times through the conversation he said ‘I just want to lead with love. I just want to be about love.’ I said you’re a liar because the people you’re aligning yourself with aren’t leading with love. Then he said ‘I do love Donald Trump.’ Kanye West. ‘I love Donald Trump.’ So the challenge that we’re going to take calls from the people right now, Rosenberg said do y’all even care or do you just want the music?” (Hot 97)
