Producer Jahlil Beats recently talked about the publicized summer feud between longtime friend Meek Mill and Drake.

Beats discussed putting together Meek’s diss song response to Drizzy’s “Back to Back” freestyle song and explained why he feels the feud is still alive.

“I was hyped, I was like, ‘I got this beat. I sampled the Undertaker,’ he took it and did what he did with it. I was just like, the anticipation, sampling something like that, it would be a movie, like the entrance – Meek want that top spot just like everybody else wants that top spot. He wants that top spot, period. Even if it was Jay Z. … This is entertainment – it was necessary. Honestly, however it turns out, it’s not over. I’m not going to say it’s more coming but it’s not over. I don’t think it’s over. I know Meek Mill. I just feel like we made history. This is the first real beef in the social media age – with two top artists. Meek, coming off a number one album.” (CBS Radio’s Play.it)

Beats also gave his own take on Drizzy’s “Back to Back” banger Meek response.

“I wasn’t really impressed,” Beats added when asked for his take on Drake’s “Back to Back” freestyle diss. “I thought it was dope. I thought it was dope that he was actually rapping because I didn’t expect Drake to say anything. I thought he was gonna sweep it under the rug. But the fact that he just came out and dissed him twice, I was like, ‘Okay, all right. We’re gonna have some fun now.’ That’s pretty much what it was. I don’t think it was really too crazy. I think he was trying to bait him.” (CBS Radio’s Play.it)

Within his new The FADER cover feature, Drizzy admitted he knew his hard-hitting “Back to Back” anthem would make things tough for Meek.

It was then that he decided to just go ahead and do another song. “I was like, ‘I’m gonna probably just finish this.’ And I know how I have to finish it. This has to literally become the song that people want to hear every single night, and it’s gonna be tough to exist during this summer when everybody wants to hear [this] song that isn’t necessarily in your favor.” (The FADER)

Meek’s girlfriend Nicki Minaj recently addressed his public Twitter disses toward Drake allegedly having a ghostwriter.

“And that’s the thing people don’t understand. Meek is a grown ass man. I may not agree with everything he says,” Nicki said before Meek weighed in saying, “She likes none of that sh*t. No matter who I’m talking to.” (GQ)
