J. Cole was interviewed by a 12-year-old Jazzy World last weekend at Governors Ball in NYC. During the interview, the two dished on the power of persistence and stepping out of their comfort zones.

Before Jazzy’s career took off, she patiently waited for hours outside of a store to interview business mogul Jay Z. Today, she is not only able to interview the North Carolina rapper, but also have a relatable discussion about persistence and how it kept them both focused on their careers.

Jazzy asked why persistence is important and the “No Role Modelz” rapper elaborated on being persistent:

“You can try ten times but on your eleventh you’d have made it happen on what you want. “

Lastly, he discussed how leaving one’s comfort zone is the fastest way to growth. “You’re not stretching yourself if you’re comfortable.” He also explained that he had to leave his comfort zone to make it happen. The reporter also asked him about leaving North Carolina to move to New York.
