On the record, Cole admits the “Control” record was more hype than seriousness on Lamar’s part.

“Thought you was a down a** b*tch/ /’Til I found that sh*t a couple days ago /I was home alone, next thing I know /That long ass verse from a song called “Control” was on /The room got nearer, the tomb got clearer /That’s when I seen the sh*t playin’ on your phone /Girl, what is that? A ringtone? Sh*t, not you too /Man that hype done got you too” (“TKO (Black Friday Remix)”)

The North Carolina native also reveals his mother took note of the buzz “Control” created.

“Everybody and their momma gassed /Even my momma asked what I’mma do /Decisions, decisions /In case this is war, then I load up on all ammunition /If a n*gga want problems, my trigger’s on auto /I’ll make sure that nobody miss him /Now pack up your sh*t, you don’t believe in me” (“TKO (Black Friday Remix)”)

Recently, Young Money’s Nicki Minaj had some words for Lamar declaring himself the king of her city on “Control.”

“I’m the queen of New York. I’m the king of New York. Let me tell you why. Platinum albums. Albums plural. Number one in five motherf*cking countries, n*gga,” Nick said. “Don’t play with me. You better respect my motherf*cking gangsta, b*tch. When you got an album that goes number one in Japan, the UK, Australia, America and Canada at the same motherf*cking time, then you can speak my motherf*cking name.” (Powerhouse 2013)

“Rap God” Eminem spoke on K. Dot’s “Control” controversy a few weeks ago.

“I don’t know if he needs advice. He seems like he’s got a really good head on his shoulders, man. He’s very smart and you can tell by the way he put his album together for one. He’s like a hip-hop head, man, he just loves hip-hop. And obviously the way that he did the “Control” verse, it was almost like if you get mad at him, then you might look foolish. He set it up so that you can’t really get mad at a lot of that shit he said because it was what every other MC is already thinking. Or you should be thinking.” (Rolling Stone)
