J. Cole Calls Jay-Z Wack, Big K.R.I.T Retires, Rihanna Attacks Fan W/ Mic?

Written By S. Samuel

Thirsty Thursday. It's all about quenching your thirst today and what better way to start it than with J. Cole calling Jay-Z wack? Uh-oh. Someone that's definitely not wack is Big K.R.I.T. but his decision to hang up the microphone could be one of the wackest situations of the year. Speaking of wack, it sounds like Rihanna may have knocked out a wacky fan with a microphone? All this coming up in SOHH Whatcha Think.

1. The Wackness

Is Jay-Z wack? The people at Samsung definitely don’t think so but it turns out his Roc Nation protégé may have thought so not too long ago. Could a late rapper have made J. Cole go up against Jigga? Complex has more:

Ever since shining on “A Star is Born” and becoming the first artist signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, J. Cole’s blossoming career has become synonymous with the Brooklyn rapper. The love for his big brother wasn’t always existent, though, as he recently explained to MTV’s Sway Calloway. Referencing a line he spit on a track from his new album, Born Sinner (“Pac had a nigga saying fuck Jigga, fuck Biggie/I was only like eleven so forgive me”), J. Cole said his adolescent vitriol for Hov stemmed from his loyalty to 2Pac. “I used to get in arguments in school all the time. There was this other kid, he was a [Notorious B.I.G.] fan,” said Cole. “The 2Pac fan in me was just riding. I’m 11, so I’m riding against everybody.” “I didn’t even know who Jay-Z was really,” he continued. “I just knew that when Makaveli came out, in these interviews, Pac was dissing Jay-Z. So it’s like, I’m doing the same thing. Jay-Z, he wack. [If] my man Pac said he wack, then he wack.” (Complex)

You have to admit, back in the mid-90’s, it was either East Coast or West Coast when it came to discussions. You either had to like Notorious B.I.G. or Tupac Shakur. Fortunately hip-hop came to its senses and embraced both coasts after their untimely deaths. Any chance Jaz-O is smiling right now? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

2. Last Of A Dying Breed

One of the most underrated rappers in the rap game could be calling it quits sooner than we all think. Mississippi’s Big K.R.I.T has hinted at possibly ending it all and walking away from the fame in a new song called “King Pt. 3.” Rap-Up has the scoop:

Big K.R.I.T. relays his inner thoughts and frustrations on “King Pt. 3.” Over the beat for Nas’ “Stay,” the Mississippi lyricist addresses those who downplayed his album (“That shit was far from basic”), keeping his faith (“Be a rapper or a Christian K.R.I.T. ’cause in this game there’s no room for that religion shit”), and even retirement. “I told my ni**as I might quit, they like K.R.I.T., you not for real,” raps K.R.I.T., whose mixtape King Remembered in Time dropped in April. (Rap-Up)

What could really be pushing K.R.I.T. to the edge? Are the industry politics too frustrating for BK? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

3. Mic Fight

Is Rihanna a violent person? Most would think not and if anything, she’s always seen as a victim but that wasn’t the case during one of her recent tour stops when she showed how a microphone could be turned into a weapon. The New York Daily News is all over this:

Rihanna might be unapologetic about most of her actions, but the pop star might want to reconsider saying sorry for clocking a fan with her microphone. During the Birmingham stop of her Diamonds world tour, one overzealous fan in the front row grabbed Rihanna, 25, as she sauntered by during a song, refusing to let go of her. The singer tried to keep walking, but when she couldn’t shake the fan’s grip Rihanna turned around and hit the person with her microphone. It’s unclear if the fan was injured or exactly where the person was hit, but according to reports the singer may have smacked the fan’s face or head. (New York Daily News)

Ouch. Can you blame Rihanna though, it seems like she tried to keep it moving but the fan would not let go. Shouldn’t her bodyguard or security have stepped in? #SOHHWhatchaThink?

That about wraps it up for today. This is SOHH On The Spot giving you the morning scoop from your favorite gossip sites.

  2. Shit I don’t know what kind of elevators lolrax rides. It would be awesome if J. Cole played in mines.

  3. First off it’s like this. Don’t hate on hov, excuse me…KING HOV!!! Hes pushing boundaries and moving mountains a whole lot more than some of your favorite rappers. When you hear jigga’s name wherever you go in the world, it’s because of the work ethic and the amount of energy and time and hustle to keep your reign RELEVANT! It’s obvious j.cole is not the smartest nor brightest crayon in the box, because if he wasn’t so worried about letting nas down and sucking his dick, then he would come up with something better. And another thing too, thats how he always felt about jay-z! What way to do it by mentioning his name in the historical beef that ended bad in the end so cole has felt like that, that “fuck jay-z attitude”. Hmmmm, no creativity. He needs promo right now and the best way to do it is to mention his name somewhere in an interview or a song and act like a bitch and talk greazy but it won’t work, it just won’t work!! J.cole needs some help. Isn’t he@100,000+ records of his new album? #HATERSIAINTMAD@YOUIFIWASNTMEIPROBABLYJOCKMEEEETOOOOOOO!!!!!!! #MAGNACARTAHOLYGRAIL #JULY4 #STOPHATING #STOPSMOKINGCRACKWITHYOURWEEDHATERS #YOUWONTGETNOWHEREBYHATINGONTHENEXTMAN
