Having grown up with a single mother for most of his life, Cole places a huge importance on family and women. In 2011, he founded the Dreamville Foundation with the goal of closing the gap between “the worlds of opportunity and the urban youth” in his childhood town of Fayetteville, North Carolina. His other philanthropic ventures include donating books to poor children and hosting career days for African-American youth among many other things. Cole even turned his childhood residence into a home for single women and their children, all of whom stay without charge.
