In addition to being a fan of the collective, Paltrow specifically gave props to the late Eazy-E.

“I first was exposed to hip-hop when I was about 16 (1988) by some boys who went to collegiate,” Paltrow revealed to Hov. “The Beastie Boys were sort of the way in for us preppie kids. We were into Public Enemy, Run-DMC and LL Cool J. But then I went to L.A. the summer between my junior and senior year of high school and I discovered N.W.A which became my obsession. I was fascinated by lyrics as rhythm and how [Dr.] Dre had a such different cadence and perspective from say, Eazy-E, who I thought was one of the most ironic and brilliant voices hip-hop has ever had. It was an accident that I learned every word of Straight Outta Compton and to love something that a.) I had no real understanding of in terms of the culture that it was emanating from and b.) to love something that my parents literally could not grasp. But I was hooked. I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night but I could sing to you every single word of N.W.A’s ‘F*ck Tha Police’ or [Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock‘s] ‘It Takes Two.’ Go figure.” (Life + Times)

In February, Paltrow discussed her dream to collaborate with Jay.

Gwyneth Paltrow already has her wish list collaborations for her music career, and a certain Brooklyn rapper tops that list. At the Oscars’ Red Carpet this evening (February 27th), the actress was asked who she dreams of working with in music. Her response? Jay-Z. “I think it would be a good combination,” Paltrow stated. “He is a genius.” Paltrow’s husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, has collaborated with Jay-Z on songs, “Beach Chair” from Jay-Z’s Kingdom Come, as well as the unreleased song “Most Kingz” produced by Green Lantern. The two have performed together countless times and are rumored to be very close friends, with Paltrow as a buddy to Jay-Z as well. (RapFix)

No stranger to hip-hop, Paltrow recently shared her admiration for rapper Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday album and Jay’s wife, singer, Beyonce.

“I listen to everything,” Paltrow said in an interview. “I probably have the most schizophranic [sic] iPod. My biggest obsession right now is the Nicki Minaj album. She’s a genius. I’m also obsessed with Kanye’s album. I really like Dierks Bentley. He has a bluegrass record that I really love…I watched Beyonce a ton because I think she’s the best live performer happening right now. She has this amazing confidence…” (Stumble Upon)
