Music newcomer iLoveMakonnen has stepped forward to speak out on leaving hip-hop star Drake’s growing OVO Sound record label.

iLoveMakonnen issued a statement and confirmed his new status on Warner Bros.

“I cannot thank OVO, 40, Oliver, Future & Mr. Morgan, enough for all that they have done for my career. No words can express how much I appreciate Drake for being a part of the success of Tuesday. I’m sure the haters will have something negative to say, but all in all my choice to be solely on Warner Bros Records was the right thing for me and for my best interest. Sorry there’s no beef to report, DRINK MORE WATER.” ILOVEMAKONNEN” (Statement)

Yesterday (April 19), reports about iLoveMakonnen ditching Drizzy’s label surfaced.

iLoveMakonnen is no longer signed to OVO Sound, a source tells Billboard. In September 2014, the Atlanta rhymer was the latest addition to Drake’s roster, especially after teaming with the label boss for his breakout smash “Club Goin Up On A Tuesday” off his 2014 self-titled debut EP. (Billboard)

Earlier in the day, iLoveMakonnen hinted at plans to tour with West Coast rapper Lil B.

Coincidentally, iLoveMakonnen recently hinted at an upcoming compilation album from Drake’s crew coming together.

“A collaboration album? [laughs] That is, uh, I can’t say too much but uh, yeah. It exists. We’ll just see when it comes out. [laughs] [Release date?] Maybe October – wouldn’t that be great? You never know.” (Huffington Post Live)
