Hollywood superstar Idris Elba is “this” close to flexing his superhero muscle. The high-profile entertainer is reportedly set to replace Will Smith in an upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.

According to reports, Elba will take over Smith’s role as Deadshot in the 2021 flick.

Smith had to bow out of the upcoming DC Comics movie due to scheduling conflicts, and the studio moved fast to find another proven A-lister to replace him before production starts in September. It’s currently unknown who will be joining Elba in the sequel, though many believe Margot Robbie will return as Harley Quinn. James Gun was tapped to write and direct the film. The release date is currently set for Aug. 6, 2021. (Variety)

Last week, buzz developed about Will having to ditch the DC Comics flick due to scheduling conflicts.

Even though his return had not been made official, sources tell Variety that Will Smith, who played Deadshot in the original, is not expected to return for the studio’s upcoming sequel. Sources say scheduling was the ultimate factor and that the decision was made on amicable terms between both sides with no hard feelings. Though the studio has never confirmed who would be returning for “The Suicide Squad,” insiders say the studio has always wanted its biggest stars like Smith and Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the first pic, to return while figuring out other casting decisions along the way. Big Willy is currently gearing up to star in this year’s Aladdin movie.

Last month, Will shared a first look at his upcoming BAD BOYS FOR LIF3 movie character.
