West Coast rap veteran Ice Cube recently talked about his work on an upcoming N.W.A. biopic and revealed his interest in having former member Dr. Dre involved on the flick. #DocInTheHouse

If things go his way, Cube will have Doc contribute a few songs to the film.

“I’m trying to convince [Dr.] Dre that we should do some new tracks for the movie,” Ice Cube told MTV News correspondent Josh Horowitz last week in Los Angeles when he sat to talk about the upcoming “22 Jump Street.” “It’s in very good shape. ‘Straight Outta Compton’ will be shot in August. So we have a director Gary Gray, he’s our director. We have a cast that’s going to be announced in the next week or two, so [it’s] full-steam ahead,” he said. (MTV)

Cube also explained how much involvement he has on the long-awaited project.

“I’m totally involved, I’m engulfed in it. This is our legacy, you can’t play with this, there’s no cutting corners,” he said. “I’m fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right.” (MTV)

Aftermath Records protégé Kendrick Lamar revealed putting in studio work on a new album alongside Dre this week.

“I’m workin’ for sure. One thing about Dre is you can’t take the music away from him. No matter how much money he has he’s going to be right there in that studio. That’s before the deal, after the deal, he’s always locked in that studio.” (KUBE 93)

Back in summer 2012, Dre tweeted a photo from the N.W.A. set.

Dr. Dre tweeted a picture of him on the set of N.W.A.’s forthcoming movie with the director F. Gary Gray. “Dre & F Gary Gray – The NWA Movie kicks off the collaboration! Expect more incredible projects from this powerhouse duo.” There’s been talk about a N.W.A. biopic for years now, and finally, filming has come to fruition. During our interview with Cube, he revealed that the N.W.A. biopic was still being planned out and that he wanted his own son to play him in the movie. (Global Grind)
