According to a KSLA report, Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris, whose real name is Christopher Dooley, was acquitted by a Shreveport, La. jury for a second-degree murder charge.
Dooley was on trial for more than a week in connection with the shooting death of 32-year-old Danzeria Farris, Jr., who died after multiple gunshots on June 19, 2020, at a Shreveport gas station.
Dooley was also found not guilty of possession of stolen items. In the trial, prosecutors called nine witnesses while the defense presented two, including Dooley.

Shreveport, La. rapper Hurricane Chris received a new court date for his trial for his second-degree murder charge from June 2020. The court proceedings started on Feb. 13, and the trial will begin on March 6. Hurricane Chris, whose real name is Christopher Dooley, was also charged with illegally possessing a stolen 2016 Mercedes sedan, which was associated with homicide.
Hurricane Chris’ Defense Says Forensics Will Prove June 2020 Shooting Was “Self-Defense”
The “My Bay” artist’s defense, Alex Washington, said a forensics expert would prove the fatal June 2020 shooting, was “self-defense.” The rapper is expected to appear for a hearing on Feb. 1. The trial is expected to start on Feb. 13.

A Louisiana Judge decided he would allow a forensics expert to testify on behalf of the “Ay Bay Bay” rapper and support him in his self-defense claims of the June 2020 shooting of Shreveport, La. native Danzeria O. Farris Jr., 32. Farris died of his wounds at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Hospital, according to Shreveport police reports.
Hurricane Chris’ Lawyer Statement
The “Playas Rock” artist’s defense lawyer, Alex Washington, said his client’s actions were in “self-defense.” Washington also added, “Hurricane Chris’s actions were in self-defense and justified. Today, the court ruled to allow our forensic expert to testify at trial,” he said.
“He (the judge) will allow the second expert to testify once we provide a written report to the state,” Washington continued. “Both experts will assist in providing that Hurricane Chris’ actions were reasonable and justified. Feb. 1 will clear up some small issues.”
