[With his new “Chocolate City” movie out on DVD this week, actor Robert Ri’chard talks to SOHH about the film’s on-set chemistry and mentally competing with co-star Tyson Beckford for a ripped body.]
As far as the guys go, we pretty much hit the gym non-stop. I sort of ended up working with Tyson [Beckford] going to the gym. He showed me some stuff and I showed him a lot of stuff.
In the back of my head, I gave it all I got and told myself, “Be more ripped than Tyson.” If you do that, then you’re doing your character justice for why [Tyson’s character] gets upset that you’re in the club picking off his clients.
That was the one thing.
And then with all of the women on the set, I just loved them. I fell in love with moms, fell in love with my [on-screen] girlfriend, just really took care of the girls and let them know that I know what I was doing was a little bit scary but I’ll keep it safe girl.
