According to reports, the music pioneer’s bust ultimately stems from a 2002 no-show court hearing.

Hip-hop musician Eric Barrier, currently an actor on the CBS series “Blue Bloods,” has been jailed in New Jersey since Oct. 28 on a warrant for failing to appear in court 17 years ago, his attorney told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday. Court records show Barrier pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and resisting arrest/eluding on Jan. 28, 2002 for an incident that occurred in Ridgefield Park about a year earlier. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for sentencing on March 8, 2002, according to court documents. (NJ)

After a couple weeks behind bars, a judge finally allowed B to be released.

“I am convinced you are not a flight risk or danger to the community,” Superior Court Judge James Guida said at Barrier’s hearing Tuesday in Superior Court in Hackensack. The judge also voiced concern that it took 17 years for someone to discover the warrant. (NJ)

A few days ago, rap veteran Nas saluted Eric B. on his Instagram page.
