[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 hip-hop artists of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Eve named her hottest picks, "Love & Hip Hop: New York" star Tahiry Jose reveals her fave five.]
Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne is just amazing to me. He was amazing to me when I couldn’t understand what he was saying.
Kendrick Lamar. He makes me feel like real hip-hop is coming back. He’s a real lyricist. It’s not really a bunch of commercial sh*t, it’s a bunch of words that make sense.
Pusha T. He’s straight street, straight gospel, f*cking straight street. He just gives you that street.
Kanye West. He’s phenomenal. Everything from his beats to him just being lyrically talented.
Drake. I just love how he does great hooks and he gives you great records along with great girl records. He’s in-tune. Right now he’s getting a lot more street but he can also flip it to give you some girlie-girl records. Oh, wait, I’m sorry, I forgot to mention Young Jeezy. Oh wait, Rick Ross. Nevermind. There’s too many to name. I’ve been a fan of Young Jeezy since day one. He’s always been street, hard-body with his music. And Ross just makes me feel so f*cking rich.
