[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Continental Five revealed his fave five, graffiti legend Alan Ket sprays out his top choices.]
Public Enemy. They would be one. I have them in there because they made the soundtrack to the early 90’s. They radicalized hip-hop.
Slick Rick. He’s definitely another. He made fun raps and he was just a great storyteller.
Pharoahe Monch. He’s just a great lyricist and a great storyteller.
MC Lyte. She was a really strong emcee from an era when there wasn’t a lot of female emcees representing hip-hop. She was great.
Mos Def. He’s one of the most talented and one of the most creative emcees in hip-hop. He’s always made great music.
