[Each week, SOHH asks two entertainment personalities to name their Top 5 rappers of all-time. To make things tricky, we've created a "Hall of Fame" of emcees (see right) who are universally respected and therefore may not be mentioned. After Bobby Brackins busted out his fave five, New York rapper WordSpit unloads his top choices.]
Kanye West. He’s just incredible. Stadium hip-hop, rapping, everything. He’s just incredible. When I saw his stage show, it made me want to step his stage show up. He’s going to go down as one of the greatest.
Royce Da 5’9. He’s a beast. Lyrically. He’s just so mean with the bars he’s coming up with and at the same time, he can actually make a good song.
Lupe Fiasco. To me, Lupe is one of the best lyricists. From his earlier mixtapes to Lasers. His lyrics are just dope and especially on The Cool. He raps and he’s still able to put together a cohesive story.
Kendrick Lamar. He’s a beast. Being a lyricist, I love lyrcists. All these artists I named, they’re not scared to be themselves.
WordSpit. When you get WordSpit, you get a real lyricist. You’re getting a real creative mind.
