Today, late hip-hop icon Heavy D's autopsy results have been revealed, leaving fans hoping for an explanation to his passing last week unsatisfied.
Currenntly, Heavy’s autopsy remains inconclusive.
Results of a post-mortem into the death of rapper Heavy D have been inconclusive in determining why he died last week. The Los Angeles coroner’s office has deferred judgment on how the rapper died suddenly at the age of 44. Last week, a coroner’s spokesman said there were no illegal drugs found in his Beverly Hills home. Toxicology results have not yet been released. Heavy D’s funeral takes place near New York on Friday. Heavy D died on 8 November after being found unconscious at his Los Angeles home. (BBC)
While a toxicology report is weeks away, speculation on Heavy’s passing has already developed.
Heavy D had returned home from a shopping trip on the day of his death, before experiencing difficulty breathing and collapsing. The results of his toxicology tests could take several weeks to determine an official cause of death. The death is believed to be medically related and foul play is not suspected. A funeral for the New York-born rapper is set for Nov. 18 at the historic Grace Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, NY, at which Diddy and Rev. Al Sharpton are expected to speak. (Billboard)
The late hip-hop icon’s family has released a statement on their loss.
“The name and the success of Heavy D will always be synonymous with music forever. He never compromised his values and artistry, and encouraged his peers to do the same,” the family said. “To us, Hev was the one who made us laugh, cry, sing, dance and turn a frown upside down. As a family, we are devastated by Hev’s passing but through our faith in God and support from family, friends and fans we are comforted, blessed and will remain strong.” (Los Angeles Times)
The “Overweight Lover’s” funeral will be held this week in New York.
While the family waits for the autopsy results to confirm the cause of the 44-year-old’s death, the viewing will take place this Thursday, Nov. 17 from noon to 6 p.m. The private funeral, which will be open to close family and friends only is set for Friday, Nov. 18. Both services will take place in the rapper’s hometown in Mount Vernon, NY. Instead of flowers, the family is said to be asking for donations to the Heavy D and Xea Myers Fund. (BET)
