Further dehumanization and sexual objectification of women in rap. Then they wonder why women advocacy groups want to boycott their shit.
Some women have reduced men to financial gain and representations of status. When you start hearing women demand that a man’s value not be based on such things, then those advocacy groups can have their day. Until then, call it “karma”.
Actually it’s not karma. As James Brown noted, this is a man’s world and from the beginning of time man has been responsible for the molding of social structures, institutions, and the creation of gender roles. That said, women have almost always existed as a subjugated class, often perceived and treated as inferior by their male counterparts. When the pervasiveness of patriarchal oppression is exposed I know it is the natural inclination for men to respond defensively by deflecting such criticism away from themselves and towards women, but that’s just a manifestation of our own guilt complex as it illuminates how uncomfortable we get when confronted by the oppressive ways in which we perpetuate male dominance of females.
