For SOHH Underrated, I would have to say Freddie Foxxx a.k.a. Bumpy Knuckles from New York.
There’s certain artists that you hear throughout your time and from their voice, delivery and along with the lyrics you can feel it. Bumpy scares a lot of people into not even listening to him.
He’s kind of like a [comedian] Paul Mooney on tracks. You might not want to sit too close to him because he might get on your a**. He would call you out on your bullsh*t.
Bumpy’s more of the type that if you’re talking about this, this and the third, he’s not doing it just for the sake of rhyming. He’s talking some real sh*t. There’s some artists that come out and you’re like, “You know what? He makes me feel every word.”
When you’re listening to him, you know exactly what he’s been through and you’ve done been through that and it’s not just for the record’s sake. That’s why I have to name Bumpy Knuckles.
He done rapped over DJ Premier‘s beats and he’s done it with the best of them. Bumpy is one of the dopest of all time on the underground level.
Naughty by Nature are a Grammy Award-winning American hip hop trio from East Orange, New Jersey that at the time of its formation in 1989 consisted of Treach, Vin Rock, and the DJ Kay Gee. They are known for being one of the few rap acts who were able to balance success on the pop charts with hardcore rap credibility.
