Written By Catherine Dallum

Gunna is gearing up to return to the music industry. After a period of relative quiet following his involvement in the YSL RICO case in December 2022, Gunna is ready to release new music that will surely excite his fans. However, the question is if fans would still support it due to an overflow of snitch allegations.

Gunna Leaked Snippet Fuels Anticipation

A leaked snippet of an unreleased song by Gunna surfaced on Tuesday, May 9, shared by a fan page, “gunnafandom.” In the snippet, Gunna seemingly addresses the critics who labeled him a “snitch,” rapping:

“He forgave me for my sins now they mad I got out.”

The snippet quickly gained attention, and the 29-year-old Atlanta rapper jumped into the comments, heightening fans’ anticipation by saying, “I’m OTW” with a blue P emoji, indicating that new music from him was coming.

Backlash From Lil Boosie

Baton Rouge rapper Boosie took to Twitter to express his negative opinion about Gunna’s music career. He stated:

“Gunna should stop making music and move to another country because the streets are done with him. I really hope he never sells another record again.”

However, Gunna’s loyal fans came to his defense on social media, emphasizing their preference for Gunna’s music over Boosie’s.

One fan tweeted,  “I’ll listen to a gunna song before I listen to a boosie song.” Another chimed in saying, “if i were gunna, i’d say i only take the advice of artists who have diamond certified hits.”

The Question of Fan Support

With Gunna’s new single set to release on Friday, June 2nd, the question arises: Will fans continue to support and stream Gunna’s new music despite the backlash he faced after taking the plea deal?

In February 2023, the former YSL rapper’s legal team had to respond to allegations of him being a “snitch,” significantly impacting his public image. Fans and the wider audience will ultimately decide whether they are still interested in Gunna’s music, making the outcome uncertain.

Is Travis Scott Still Canceled?

Gunna isn’t the only rapper facing controversy as he attempts to continue his career. In January 2023, Houston rapper Travis Scott released new sneakers, and there were questions if he was still “canceled,” after being involved in controversy due to the 2021 AstroWorld tragedy that resulted in 10 people dying.
