Barring any setbacks, Guwop sees the major LP likely coming out after 2016.
“I just think both of us have a genuine love of music,” he says of Drake. “I think he makes amazing music and he’s been a fan of my music. So it just seemed right. Both of us are humble enough to respect each other’s work. That’s why I’m saying it’ll be a collaboration that really make sense.” So, how long will we have to wait for this project? “I think it’ll come in 2017, you know what I’m saying? Who knows, it may come tomorrow. I don’t know. Anything’s possible,” he says with a smile. (Complex)
Last summer, Atlanta producer Zaytoven shared his intel on a possible joint effort with Drizzy and Gucci.
“Gucci like, ‘Hey man, we oughta do a tape together,’ and Drake was like, ‘Bet, we oughta do it,’ and right then, he started thinking about a name, and Drake said, ‘We oughta call it the..’ I think he said The 6’ers,” Zay revealed. “Cause where he from they call it The 6 and Gucci Mane from Zone 6. Then we just ran with it right there, and then Mike WiLL just jumped in like, ‘Aye, yeah me and Zay start on that, we’ll do the beats for it, we’ll start on it right now.’ And everybody was in agreement with it, so it’s like, okay that’s what we gonna do. And we already started doing songs for it.” (VLAD TV)
In July 2016, Zay talked about Gucci putting out joint collabos with Drake and Atlanta rapper Future.
“We were doing the video for Gucci Mane’s first video for the album. It was featuring Young Thug but Young Thug wasn’t there yet. We were in there talking and Drake just came by because he was in town and wanted to stop through. We just got to talkin’ about doing a project together — Gucci and Drake together,” Zay said in an interview. “[Future and Gucci collabo coming?] Oh yeah definitely. I will try to make sure of it.” (XXL Mag)
A few weeks prior, Drake showed off his close-knit bond to Gucci.
