Reason 4: The Enhancements
The fourth reason is because you can’t redo this film. There was talk at one point about Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were going to recreate the roles and we all looked at each other like, “Are you crazy?” They’re a great talent, don’t get me wrong and if anybody was going to do it at the time, why not them? But it ain’t broke, you don’t have to fix this. The fixing that has gotten done over the years is an enhancement. So nothing is broken, Paramount keeps enhancing it. Then you look at “Grease Live” and all of the live musicals that have been done, that’s been the most successful of all the musicals that have been done live on television. One big reason is because of the live audience. None of the others up until that point had a live audience. That’s a no-brainer. Vanessa Hudgens. Keke Palmer. All of them were amazing and then bringing so many of us to take part in a sort of homage was just great.
