The Los Angeles area was struck by tragedy Sunday morning when news broke about Lakers legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant losing their lives following a helicopter crash.

Tributes to the sports icon poured in throughout the day as the music community prepared for the 62nd Grammy Awards later that evening at the Staples Center. He and slain L.A. legend Nipsey Hussle (who won Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Rap Performance) were remembered at the event on several occasions while Tyler, the Creator won his first Grammy and Billie Eilish became the youngest artist to sweep the Big 4 categories.
