After sparking dating rumors with Kodak Black, Memphis artist GloRilla has teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger by becoming the new face for Tommy Jeans and clothing brand Aries. The new collection is expected to drop on March 31.

This partnership aims to celebrate individuality and self-expression while showcasing the brand’s bold and colorful designs. Glo said she wanted to “keep the legacy” and even touched on the history between the brand and the late songstress, Aaliyah, who also wore the brand.

“I’m a big Aaliyah fan, and I love what she did with them,” GloRilla said. “I’m part of keeping a legacy going.”

Tommy Hilfiger’s Complicated History With Hip-Hop Culture

Like Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger has had a complicated history with hip-hop.

In the 1990s, there were rumors circulating that the Tommy Hilfiger company made racist comments, which led to the boycott of the brand with some retailers ending the sales of the clothing at their stores.

In fact, there was speculation that the comments were made during a conversation on the Oprah Winfrey Show, where Tommy Hilfiger himself made a guest appearance. During the alleged interview, Oprah asked Hilfiger about his comments. He replied —

“If I knew that African Americans, or black people, were going to be wearing my clothes, I would have never designed them.”

The alleged comments immediately sparked outrage and accusations of racism against Hilfiger. However, it has since been debunked, and he quickly issued a statement denying the accusations and claiming that his comments had been taken out of context.

Hilfiger also went on the Oprah Winfrey Show to clear the air, where he also clarified that he was never on the show before.

Despite these racist comments, some celebrities continued to wear Hilfiger’s brand. Some celebrities, such as Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child, were even seen wearing Hilfiger clothing in music videos and at events.

Snoop Dogg also has a long history of wearing Tommy Hilfiger clothing in his music videos and public appearances. In the 1990s, Hilfiger was one of the most popular fashion brands among hip-hop artists and their fans, and this was no exception. His love for the brand helped to cement Hilfiger’s place in the fashion world and helped to further blur the lines between fashion and hip-hop culture.

On the other hand, GloRilla had also made history by recently selling over 400K with the bonus edition of her EP Anyways, Life’s Great…

GloRilla & Finesse2tymes May Get Sued By Victims’ Families Following Concert Tragedy

In not-so-good news, GloRilla and another Memphis artist could be on the verge of having a lawsuit against them. Memphis rappers GloRilla and Finesse2tymes could be facing legal action following the recent concert stampede. The tragedy occurred in Rochester, NY during a crowd surge on March 5.
