With this Designer project, I feel like the anchor of all these songs and the project started with “21.”

With “21,” it changed the pace of what I was doing musically. We sped the music up and I wanted to make people move. I wanted to make the soundtrack to turning 21. I wanted to make a soundtrack to what the experience of turning 21 is and that being in Vegas.

The song just happened while I was at Spaced Out studio in Crenshaw. We were barbecuing, playing music and having a good time. We just built that song up from scratch. I really got all of the inspiration from that experience. That started really kicked off the EP.

From that song we did another record called “The Big Bang” and I had the homie Overdoz, Clyde Carson, BJ The Chicago Kid and Preston Harris. We were really tapping into funk elements and going into our own world that doesn’t exist right now in music.

With everything I put out, I go to extra lengths to make sure it doesn’t sound like anything that’s out. There’s no samples on this project, it’s all original music and all of my friends and community contribute to this world that we want to live in and hopefully change the world with this sound.

That’s where the Designer EP stems from. It’s about having fun and making people care about something that took time and effort to create and hopefully inspire them to create something for the world as great as what we did.

I’m really proud of this project.
