A day after Florida man George Zimmerman suffered a gunshot wound, reports claim the shooter has come forward with a defense.
According to reports, Zimmerman flashed a weapon at gunman Matthew Apperson.
Matthew Apperson’s lawyer, Mark NeJame, tells TMZ, his client did NOT flash his headlights at Zimmerman Monday nor did he chase him down. NeJame says Apperson ended up side-by-side with Zimmerman when the famous former defendant waved a gun. NeJame says it was pure self-defense, buttressed by the fact that Apperson is the one who initiated the call to 911. He actually had to hunt someone down who had a cellphone because he didn’t have one at the time. (TMZ)
Buzz behind the unexpected shooting bubbled online Monday (May 11).
Lake Mary Police Chief Steve Bracknell said it appeared Zimmerman suffered a minor gunshot wound, WESH in Orlando reported. A lawyer for Zimmmerman, however, told the Associated Press that the bullet missed Zimmerman, who was hit with glass from his windshield. Zimmerman was treated at a hospital and released. (USA Today)
The Lake Mary police department broke the shooting news across social media Monday.

Back in February, slain teenager Trayvon Martin’s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin visited the White House to meet President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.
“Today, on the third anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death, showing all of our kids, all of them, every single day, that their lives matter, that’s part of our task,” President Obama said. “Where we are today didn’t come easy. It came through thick and thin.” (TIME)
