West Coast rapper Game recently updated fans on the status of his highly-anticipated The Documentary 2 album dealing with fan comparisons to his 2005 classic.

According to Game, his passion and dedication to celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his The Documentary album are what’s fueled the LP.

“I think if going at Jay Z didn’t hurt my career, then I’ll be alright,” Game said laughing when asked about the pressure to deliver another classic. “From the beginning, I called it The Documentary 2 because it’s 10 years later and I’m working on music and figured, ‘Why not ride the wave?’ I could have gone into like, ‘I’m going to call it ‘Documentary 2′ and cheat the minds of my fans, sell some records, they’re going to buy it,’ – but I’m not that kind of guy. I kind of really dug in, grass-rooted myself to the streets and it’s a little bit different when you’re living good. I always frequent my block.” (Sway’s)

Barring any setbacks, Game’s studio release will arrive later this summer.

“Next album is coming August,” Game revealed in an interview. “The Documentary 2, the follow-up from the first album. It’s going to be classic – shout-out to all the producers that helped me – Dr. Dre, Pharrell, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Alchemist, DJ Pooh, Scott Storch.” (Power 98 FM)

  1. 50 was responsible for at least half of the first Documentary. BUT, I gotta say Doctor’s Advocate was dope too, but that was almost a decade ago. I did like the OKE mixtape, so maybe there’s hope that this will be a dope album.

  2. Hope he evolved in his lyrics, no more drive by music. L.A. and Compton black communities are shrinking b/c of gang violence. All that super gangster rap won’t help Compton. These kids have to walk to school thru gang turfs, parents praying for their safety. And his kids go to private school.

  3. The only reason Game survived with Hov is because Hov never responded cause Game was being a Stan and then a weirdo…

  9. It’s corny to start claiming a set when you are a grown man, when you weren’t a gang banger when younger.
