Details of Afeni’s unexpected passing surfaced early Tuesday (May 3).
The Marin County Sheriff’s Department says it responded to Afeni’s Sausalito, CA home Monday around 9:43 PM for a report of a cardia arrest. She was transported to a hospital … where she was pronounced dead at 10:28 PM. Afeni was a philanthropist, founding and running the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation after her son’s death. She was also a Black Panther … and defended herself in court when she was accused of multiple bombings. (TMZ)
Shakur helped bring her son’s life to Broadway with the musical production Holler If Ya Hear Me.
Following her son’s death, Davis founded the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation, and later helped create Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me in 2014, which featured the rapper’s music. She also served as the CEO of Amaru Entertainment, Inc., a record and film production company she founded in Atlanta. (People)
Back in March, buzz behind Afeni and husband Gust Davis filing for a divorce surfaced.
They have lots of property and he wants, among other things, the right to live on their 50 acre North Carolina ranch and wants the keys to the houseboats. Gust, who’s a minister, also wants to keep his sweet Jag. We’re told the Tupac Estate rakes in around $900k a year, but according to Gust, after expenses Afeni gets around $20k a month. We’re told he wants $10k a month for the rest of his life. (TMZ)
