Gabrielle Union Kills The Stacey Dash Drama: “Is She Like Related To Dame Dash? Was She On Roc A Fella?” [Video]

Hollywood actress Gabrielle Union may have put an immediate end to the commotion Stacey Dash sparked last week over the need to eliminate pro-Black networks like BET.

Approached recently for her thoughts on Dash’s remarks, Union appeared to throw some shade at the 49-year-old diva.

Who’s Stacey Dash? Is she like related to Dame Dash? Was she on Roc A Fella?” I heard of a crazy lady once, maybe last week. But I don’t know what her name is. It’s like why is there a need for Birth of a Nation and why is there a Country Music Awards – if you don’t see yourself reflected in mainstream awards, you tend to create your own.” (AP)

Recently, hip-hop star Waka Flocka Flame reacted to Stacey’s now-infamous comments.

“I could say Stacey Dash wrong and she right for how she said it, she couldn’t break down fully what she was trying to explain. But honestly, I always felt like that. Like, why the f*ck we got BET? BET’s for black people and MTV’s for white people? Think about it. Why the f*ck we got Black History Month only in February? How can the people that took our history give us our history for one month? Just think about it. That’s the sh*t I’d be saying though. It is what it is.” (WSHH)

Stacey’s celebrity cousin Damon “Dame” Dash gave his thoughts on her issues with BET a few days ago.

“I think she was saying, you can’t be, ‘Yo BET we have our own Black stuff that we don’t invite White people to and then get mad when White people don’t invite us to their stuff.’ That’s how I looked at it. But then I was just like, ‘She didn’t have to say it like that or there or get paid to say it.’ I would have way preferred her, if she has that opinion, to say it on BET or have a conversation with someone Black when she was saying that and let someone Black have a conversation back with her as opposed to some White man nodding his head.” (Dr. Boyce Watkins)

In a lengthy blog post last Thursday (January 21), Stacey went in on BET for publicly trying to embarrass her.

“Ever since I said THIS on Fox yesterday, Black Entertainment Television has been throwing shade. They reminded me — and the rest of America — that I appeared on a show called The Game, which appeared on BET. “Soooooo @realstaceyldash, can we get our check back… or nah?” the Instagram caption read. “#Remember #YouWereOnTheGame #AndWeDontMeanTheRapper.” Well, here’s the thing. Thank you for reminding me, since most people have never heard of that show. Why? It’s on BET. Quick. Name the top shows on BET. Drawing a blank? I think I’ve made my point. (Patheos)
