[SOHH highlights a hot record every week and offers a behind-the-scenes look at the smash in Singled Out. After Lil George broke down his new “The Real George” music video, G-Unit’s Rotimi talks about his new 50 Cent-featured “Lotto” anthem.]
The funny thing is a lot of people think 50 [Cent] put me on his show and musically we had a relationship before the show but I auditioned [for “Power.”]
The funny story is I didn’t really even talk to him about music until three months into filming because I wanted him to kind of respect me as an actor, as a man, and kind of build with him.
It was more that kind of thing and then the a head A&R actually came to a studio session of mine, randomly, and brought me over to G-Unit. So when I got over to the office, 50 was like, “Yo, what are you doing here?”
I played him the [“Lotto”] record then and he fell in love with the record. It was more so just an organic build-up and it was real genuine.
