G.O.O.D. Music’s Yasiin “Mos Def” Bey has reportedly been arrested in South Africa this week for issues related to immigration complications.

According to reports, a passport problem has landed the rap veteran in police custody.

“The South African Police Service (SAPS) has charged him with usage of fraudulent travel documents. The matter is currently before the courts‚” Home Affairs ministerial spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete said via Twitter. (Times Live)

Reports claim the bust went down early Thursday (January 14) morning.

“He was arrested yesterday [Thursday] 14 January 2015 at 11am and he is expected to appear in Bellville court today [Friday} on Immigration Act-related charges,” Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said. Mos Def has been living in Cape Town since 2013. (ENCA)

Def reportedly packed his bags and moved to South Africa in 2009.

Last year Mos Def‚ who also calls himself Yasiin Bey‚ cancelled a planned tour of the States due to what his publicists called “legal and immigration issues”. According to Rolling Stone magazine‚ the performer moved to Cape Town in 2009. (Times Live)
