According to reports, Emmis said there is no truth to the Jay/Hot 97 gossip.

Hip-Hop Wired reached out to Emmis Communications, the company which owns Hot 97 and other radio stations across the nation, to see if Hova or any of his representatives actually inquired about purchasing Hot 97. “That story is false,” said Emmis press rep Kate Snedeker. (Hip Hop Wired)

Flex addressed the big rumor about Hov buying Hot 97 on Instagram this week.

Controversial gossip blog Media Take Out claimed Jay had an interest in the mega station.

According to a ROCK SOLID SOURCE – Shawn “Jay Z” Carter along with a group of investors that includes NY Knicks star Carmelo Anthony are currently NEGOTIATING TO BUY Hot 97 radio station. Talks are still early, but we’re told that both sides have HIRED LAWYERS and INVESTMENT BANKERS – and are serious in getting a deal done. (The Source)

Last week, Flex went off on Jay Z’s popular Life + Times lifestyle website.

“A couple years ago, dropped that DJ Funk Flex app. I get an email from a writer at Life + Times, the website. They want to talk to me about my digital involvement and write a story. First of all, I salute the young man who wrote the story. I appreciate the love, but bruh I’mma tell you something. I peeped back then when they was using a writer outside that did not work for the website. And that website is trash by the way. And I figured I’d say that trash so you take me serious on where I’m going. They do this interview after I drop my app. Asking me a lot of key questions about apps, building apps, how, why, how’d you launch it. But all of that didn’t get put in the story though. A lot of that information got put into that new Jay Z app.” (Hot 97)

  1. Not trying to say that Jay buying the station is true, but most times a company will deny a sell until it’s sold.

    • co-sign ……. and most of the time, nobody knows what Jay is doing until after it’s a done deal …… flex nervous lol

  2. They will never let anyone buy a major station that could POSSIBLY ( I say possibly because Jay probably wouldn’t anyhow ) play hip hop that isn’t considered mainstream. The major stations are all owned by the same people ( I mean corporations ) more or less, and are paid to play the same garbage in every city. WACK WACK WACK WACK WACK. I live in LA, and moved here from NY, trust me. It’s all a business and every 12-21 year old moron is the consumer.
