Desiree Perez is currently the CEO of JAY-Z‘s Roc Nation. Back in the 1990s, she was convicted on conspiracy distribution charges and cooperated with the US Attorney’s office on her case. Funk Flex promised on his next radio show to discuss the situation.

Desiree Perez Speaks On Presidential Pardon

In the time since her conviction, Perez has worked for criminal justice reform and social justice. After being pardoned, she gave a statement to Billboard.

“I’m grateful to have received a pardon and to have formally closed that chapter of my life in the eyes of the law. I have taken full accountability for my mistakes from 25 years ago, but I also take tremendous pride in my personal growth, perseverance and accomplishments since then. This pardon reinforces my lifelong commitment to advocate for criminal justice reform and social justice initiatives.”

Hip-Hop Heavyweights Receive Trump Pardons

Some other notable names in hip-hop received pardons from the 45th POTUS in his final days in office. Lil Wayne, Kodak Black and Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris along with Perez were legally cleared and/or had their sentences commuted in their cases.
