Bad Boy Entertainment’s French Montana caught a tough break this week. The rapper’s delayed MC4 album received a premature release from mega retailer Target.
According to reports, French’s upcoming album leaked onto store shelves a few days ago.
I went to a Target to purchase Tory Lanez‘ new album I Told You and sitting right next to the album was MC4. I went to the self-checkout and had to receive customer assistance. The employee that came to fix the issue knew the album was pushed back and didn’t allow me to purchase it. After the fact, I contacted another Target employee that I know and he revealed that it is possible to purchase the album despite the pushback. It just depends on the employee you are dealing with. Target now has the studio release available for pre-purchase and set to come out in mid-October.
Earlier in the week, French announced his album’s unexpected setback.
Initial plans were for the follow-up to 2013’s Excuse My French to arrive this week.
Lead by the singles “Figure It Out” featuring Kanye West and Nas & “Lock Jaw” with Kodak Black, MC4 will hit stores on August 19 via Sony/Bad Boy Entertainment. The 14-track album is available for pre-order on iTunes, where a flashy Montana wears a lot of gold chains, as his pet monkey Julius Caesar sits on his shoulder. MC4 will feature guest appearances by Drake, Miguel, The LOX, and Beanie Sigel. (Miss Info TV)
In May, Montana talked about the album suffering multiple delays.
While there’s no official single from Mac & Cheese, Montana has been mulling over the idea of an A-side and B-side throwback single release for “Figure It Out” featuring ‘Ye and Nas or “Lock Jaw” with Kodak Black from Wave Gods. In conjunction with his label announcement, Montana even released the “Figure It Out” video, directed by Eif Rivera. With a new label home for Mac & Cheese, it’s only a matter of time until the “Coke Wave” returns. “Just get ready for the tsunami,” he says. “Things are about to get real.” (Billboard)
